High strength/expansion graphite for components used in thin film deposition & vacuum furnace processes

We can offer a range of very fine grained, high strength and high expansion graphite, in both standard purity (approx 0.1% ash) and high purity (10ppm ash). These graphite grades are typically up to 50% stronger, flexurally, than standard high density graphite. They also have a much higher coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE 8x10E-6/°K). This can be a great advantage when using graphite components in high temperature applications combined with other materials as the CTE can be matched more closely.

This high strength graphite is ideally suited to producing screws and fixings and also thin section heater elements. Its high rigidity means that meander type elements do not suffer from sagging, that would occur with standard high density graphite.

Although this type of graphite is very strong and hard, it is easily machined due to its fine uniform grain structure. At CEVP we have a sophisticated machine shop and can produce simple or complex shapes with our manual and CNC equipment.

Our engineers are very experienced in the use of graphite materials in a vast range of applications across many industries. We are pleased to offer technical help in grade selection or we can offer a comprehensive design service.

As with high density graphite, high strength graphite also has open porosity, approximately 12%, and therefore suffers from outgassing problems in vacuum environments. Particles are also a problem in semiconductor applications. Both of these problems can be solved by surface coatings, conversions and impregnations. Refer to our coatings page for more information.
